Aim
To train selected members as Close Personal Protection Operatives for employment within the ADF.
General
This is a continuous 33 day intensive training course open to selected FT Military Police and RAAF AFDG members only. This course, whilst mentally and physically demanding is highly challenging and rewarding. Assessment topics include driving skills, weapons handling, team and individual skills and physical fitness and endurance. Training requires a level of assumed knowledge and skill, therefore must be well prepared to meet these challenges.

- Rank: CPL - CAPT (E)
- PES: Medical Class 1
- Physical Test: Pass CPP Barrier Test
- Qualifications: MPBC, SPBC, ROBC
- Experience: Minimum 24 months Service Police member
Pre-course
All trainees must be physically fit prior to attending the course. Trainees attending the course with existing injuries, which prevent them from undertaking training, will be returned to their parent units. Trainees during the course will undertake a progressive and extensive skill based physical training program. All members are to complete a CPP Physical Fitness Barrier Test prior to arrival on the course. The requirements for which are detailed below. Trainees should take the opportunity to ensure that their base skills in First Aid, F88 Steyr and 9mm SLP Mk3 are practiced and revised before attending the course. All Trainees will be contacted by email by the Course Manager on release of the Course Panel and informed of the more detailed requirements for course preparation. This will include precourse reading and research topics.
CPP Barrier Test
Those personnel panelled or reserved panelled for the CPPO Course are to complete a CPP Barrier Test prior to arrival at DPTC. It is requested that units inform the Course Manager of the successful completion as it occurs. Trainees will be required to complete this barrier assessment at DPTC on Day 1 before continuing on with the training.
The Barrier Test comprises the following:
Army Basic Fitness Assessment (Pass to PIL 1 for trainee)
Beep Test (Level 10)
Heaves (Males - 10, Females - 4)
Army Swim Test (Swim 30 meters in DPCU, nil footwear then tread water/stay afloat for 2 mins)
This assessment is conducted concurrently, with ten minutes rest between the BFA and the Beep Test. The purpose of this assessment is to ensure that trainees possess the required physical fitness and endurance levels to undertake the course.
