ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Australian Recruit Training Centre currently has two training wings and assigned supporting units. The organisational structure of ARTC is shown below:

The 1st Recruit Training Battalion is structured as a unit, no differently to any major regimental unit in the Army. This facilitates the recruits understanding of the Army way of doing business; its structure, organisations, how internal relationships work and the methods for command and control. The 1st Recruit Training Battalion is commanded by a headquarters and consists of four recruit training companies each of six recruit training platoons and a Training Support Company consisting of four specialist support platoons. The 1st Recruit Training Battalion is capable of training 1160 recruits in 24 platoons of 48 recruits, or if required surging to train 1440 at a time in 24 platoons of 60 recruits.
