51 MP PL (SIB) - Brisbane
Well as 2006 draws to an end, we can sit back and look upon an extremely eventful year for not only the Platoon, but the Company and Battalion, not to mention the Corps as a whole.
2006 started of with the normal veracity, associated with returning soldiers to both Townsville and Brisbane. The hoped for slump in work never came and both sections continued to soldier on, for use of a better word, at a draining tempo.
Thorough out the year the platoon was able to keep its head above water, keeping on par with the jobs being generating within the AO. However, it came to a complete standstill when in the space of three weeks; three of the four investigators from Townsville were deployed overseas on a permanent basis.
To add to this the PLCOMD, was also deployed to OP Catalyst, leaving myself to take up the mantle of A/PLCOMD for the remainder of the year. A big thanks to Al, (GRES from Perth) who obliged me after a plea for help and filled in the SECTCOMD duties in Townsville as I headed south to Brisvegas.
Credit must go to those troops who remained behind and kept the work ticking over on a very heavily reduced manning. All members of Brisbane section have rotated regularly through Townsville to ensure that we continue to provide a viable resource to the North.
51 MP Pl also farewells a number of members who have left the Service for a new start. Congratulations and all the best to you and your families.
As 2007 fast approaches, exciting times appear to be ahead for not only the Investigator trade but the Corps as a whole. 2007 should be even more event filled and just as hectic as this year has proved to be. See you next year.
