Adventure Training Dwellingup
Dwellingup What a Great Place!
Adventure Based Activities
The charming country town of Dwellingup in the heart of the jarrah forest was the setting to begin 7 Field Battery's Adventure training weekend 23 - 25 Nov 07.
Dwellingup is located an hour and a half drive south of Perth. Set among pristine jarrah forest and water catchment areas with the Murray River close by outdoor activities.
The three main activities of Rappelling (at Mundaring Weir), Cycling on the Munda Biddi Trail (meaning "path through forest") and Canoeing at the Lane Poole Reserve.
Respite each evening was found at the Dwellingup Community Centre and was the first AT weekend for several years.
The Rappelling was the most challenging task as a drop of more than 40 metres to the scree below was to be negotiated.
LCPL Natasha Taborelli (Gun Towing Driver) said "It was great dropping down the dam wall was scary at first but after that no worries and with the biking in such beautiful forest country, the canoeing bring it on again!"
CAPT Stuart James who had spent a year as the Battery's Instructor in Gunnery (now posted to School of Artillery at Puckapunyal) and organiser of the trip was commended by the Battery Commander for his efforts in coordinating the adventure and providing our officers and soldiers with a "fair dinkum" challenge.
