The Royal New South Wales Regiment, Pipes & Drums |

The Battalion's Pipes & Drums have a long and proud tradition of providing the Battalion with both Ceremonial and musical support over the years. From their involvement in Gemas Day commemorations early in the year through ANZAC Day, Reserve Forces Day and the Battalion's annual Suakin Dinner, the Pipes & Drums play a critical role in celebrating the achievement of the Battalion and honouring its past members.
The Pipes & Drums is made of both musicians who parade as part of the Pipes & Drums and 'part-time' members who are from the Rifle Companies but who also support the Pipes & Drums at certain events.
Not
surprisingly members of the 2/17 RNSWR Pipes & Drums learn
to either play the Bagpipes and the Drum (or in some cases both)
as part of their training to become a Musician. While this may be their primary
employment, they nonetheless get involved in the infantry training
as well as Adventure Training and Military Skills Exercises.
Outside of Parade Times, the Band often represents the Battalion, or the Army, at external Piping and Band Contests throughout Australia.
If you are interested in becoming a qualified musician, or are already a musician and what to do something a bit different, then you should consider joining 2/17 RNSWR and becoming a member of our Pipes & Drums. What are you waiting for?
