RECRUITING

Zulu Shield and SpearsWelcome to Echo Company, 2/17 RNSWR

Echo Company is located in Chandler Street, Kogarah a short walk from busses along the Princess Highway and the trains at Rockdale Station.

The Company is an Infantry Rifle Company known as “Zulu” to the rest of the Battalion. The company also has an interesting history with the Company formerly a Rifle Company of 4/3 RNSWR before it was transferred to 2/17 RNSWR (as its fifth rifle company) as part of a reorganisation of Army Reserve Units in the 1990s.

Echo is made up of 18-30 year old soldiers, the vast majority living in the St. George/Illawara region and the wider South Coast. Our Company is made up of some long serving members of the Battalion as well as some of the fittest newcomers. Our training is primarily targeted to develop initiative, battle cunning, fieldcraft and aggression. Not surprisingly members of Echo are regularly involved at the forefront of the Battalion's activities and exercises.

Soldiers of Echo company are also steeped in tradition - from learning our Company Song "Men of Harlech" (which gets a sounding often) to undertaking a crossing of the Kokoda Trail in recent years.

Echo Company welcomes interesting questions, visitors and newcomers. Administrative staff are on hand any Tuesday night at the depot or can be contacted on (02) 9553 3640.

Alternatively call the training team anytime on 0408 163 275.

Zulu – Initiative, Battle Cunning, Aggression.
