The role of 17 Construction Squadron Workshop is to provide integral maintenance and recovery support, including light and medium repairs to the squadrons equipment. The authority to undertake medium grade repairs is restricted to prescribed specialist equipment.
General
17th Construction Squadron Workshop Troop are primarily drawn from the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps. Along side them are members from the Royal Australian Army Ordinance Corps who provide logistical support.
Mission
The 17th Construction Squadron Workshops provides repair, maintenance and recovery facilities to unit assets and members.
Tasks
The role of Workshops Tp is to provide unit maintenance and recovery support, including light level repair to common equipment and medium level repair to prescribed specialist equipment. Key tasks include:
- Overall unit maintenance and recovery management responsibilities;
- technical inspections, repair, servicing and modifications of unit equip;
- Simple procurement;
- Welding and metal fabrication;
- Small arms repair;
- Control and coordination of base / trade repair through DLSU;
- Operation and maintenance of RPS and B1 stores; and management of unit DUR account.
- Routine and specialist electrical and mechanical repair work.
Command
Workshops Troop is commanded by CAPT Briohny Reilly and the ASM is WO2 Danny Crump.
