Also, the Land Commander Australia, MAJGEN M. Kelly and his staff, MA LTCOL M. Mahy and RSM WO1 S. Ward, visited the AACAP contingent. They were very impressed with the amount of work and quality of workmanship of the AACAP projects this year and congratulated the members for their efforts and hard work.
Now the camp is starting to come down. Most of the members of the TAINING TEAM have redeployed and members from 51FNQR, who were assisting as mentors for the training team, redeployed to MT Isa on 18 August. Their contribution to AACAP this year has been outstanding and we would like to thank them for their hard work.
The HEALTH TEAM is continuing to provide health effects within the community. An ARMY dentist and oral surgeon are currently working at the community health centre performing minor dental procedures and referring some cases to MT Isa for further treatment.
All of the construction sites are progressing strongly toward completion. For all of the information on each site follow the link to AACAP 07.

| Recent rains have closed several roads |
Members have recently returned from an enjoyable three day break which saw a majority of the contingent disperse to townships and camping destinations around the area.
Some members chose the relaxed atmosphere and serenity of more remote tourist destinations such as Lawn Hill National Park and Mornington Island. However, most preferred to book hotels, motels and camping areas at the local townships of Burketown, Mt Isa, Normanton and Karumba.
Recent unseasonable weather over the past week has produced substantial rain over Doomadgee, Mt Isa, Burketown and most of Northern Queensland. The rain has dropped the daily temperatures to an average of 15 degrees and closed all roads to Doomadgee for several 24 hour periods. As a result of one of these closures; the three day break was transformed into a four day break.
AACAP 07 - 05 Jun 07
AACAP 07 is now in full production and 17 Construction Squadron will be mainly concerned with providing the construction effect. However, there are some more equally important aspects of the AACAP project that also need to be mentioned.
Members of the HEALTH and TRAINING teams play a key role in delivering beneficial outcomes to the community.
The HEALTH team is busy working with the local medical staff to deliver training, education and medical assistance to members of the community and the civilian medical personnel in Doomadgee.
The TRAINING team is working closely with local TAFE and other government training initiatives in the area. They are providing training and education to community members in areas such as metal work, leadership, literacy, numeracy and healthy living.
The CONSTRUCTION team makes up the majority of the AACAP contingent. This year the AACAP contingent will be constructing four three-bedroom houses, a public toilet facility and a ten block subdivision to encourage future development within the Doomadgee township.
For more information about AACAP, head to the AACAP 2007 page....
These past weeks have seen great progress on all AACAP projects. The houses are starting to look like houses, block walls are going up at the toilet block and the subdivision is starting to take shape.
