Precision Drill Team

The Australian Defence Force Academy Precision Drill Team was formed to perform the precise rifle drill that has become its trademark. The dazzling and highly disciplined performances are performed without command with the use of use original Lee Enfield .303 rifles and demonstrate the showmanship of military skill and weapons proficiency learnt at the Academy. In the years which it has existed, the drill team has performed at events such as;

  • Floriade Festival
  • Olympic Torch ceremony (Canberra)
  • Brisbane Festival
  • Sydney International Military Tattoo
  • Air Force Week (Darling Harbour)
  • Australian War memorial Open Day
  • Victory in the Pacific Day (60th Anniversary)
With the most recent performances being at the Solomon Islands, the ANZAC Day Brumbies match as well as an annual performance at the ADFA Open Day and UNSW Kensington Open day. Officer cadets and midshipmen dedicate many hours of their own in order to perfect their skill and are consistently working to improve the level to which they perform. Along with the practical elements of drill, cadets are taught about the traditions and history of ceremonial with the conduct of formal Dining in Night’s and the understanding of the significance and importance of the movements being performed.
