Withdrawal of Trade Transfer Bonus Scheme

Soldiers considering a transfer to a technical trade are encouraged to apply prior to 30 June 2010 when the current Trade Transfer Bonus Scheme will be withdrawn.

The Trade Transfer Bonus Scheme was introduced in 2006 to encourage soldiers to consider transferring to a technical trade within Army rather than elect discharge.

The scheme has proved beneficial for Army in providing the tradesmen needed to meet Army's demands and in providing high quality transportable skills for soldier's future careers.

Soldier's considering leaving Army for a civilian career are encouraged to explore the option of securing a technical trade qualification through Army by trade transfer.

Trade Transfer WO's are available to provide specific advice.

Trade Transfer Bonus

Chief of Army will offer an incentive bonus of $17,500 or $25,000 to encourage personnel to transfer from non technical trades within Army to technical trades which are becoming serious or critical.

Trades are grouped into two categories according to the relative difficulty of recruiting. Category A - recruit achievement below 74 per cent will attract an incentive payment of $25,000. Category B - recruit achievement between 75 per cent and 90 per cent will attract a payment of $17,500.

Payment will be 50 per cent on commencement of Initial Employment Training and 50 per cent on completion of 12 months' further service.

The CA endorsed the establishment of the Trade Transfer Team to assist members approaching the end of their IMPS transfer from a non-technical trade to a technical trade.

The Directorate of Personnel - Army stood up a Trade Transfer Team in Feb 07. The Team commenced touring the major Army establishments in Mar 07. To date they have been to Townsville, Brisbane, Perth, Wagga, Melbourne, Tasmania, Puckapunyal and Darwin. If you missed them in one of these locations, they will return in 2008. A detailed tour itinerary will be made available in Army News closer to the nominated dates. In the mean time they can be contacted for advice on the numbers below:
