Welcome

BEST VIEWED IN IE6 OR HIGHER

Welcome to the 3rd Brigade, the Australian Army's most ready deployable infantry brigade with nearly 4000 soldiers. The Brigade is mainly located in Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, but also comprises the 3rd Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment, and 'A' Battery, 4th Field Regiment located in Sydney. In Townsville there are a number of other units which closely support the Brigade and this website serves the soldiers and families of these units also.

This website is accessible from within the Defence Restricted Network and is copied to the www once a week. There is a long and complex web address for the site, or it can be found by going to www.armyintownsville.net and it will divert you to the official 3rd Brigade Community Website.

We try hard to keep this up to date and relevant. If you think there is something else we might add that would make it better, please email. EmailCOMD's Driver

Key Messages for Families

Problems on Deployments - Families interests first

There are incidents that occur on deployments that as a first priority require everyone's immediate attention and then get to the paperwork of informing those who need to know first. Our families are the first among these. Sometimes, however, news gets out before all the facts are known, especially if the incident occurs some distance from the task group base. That info is generally just speculation and very unhelpful to those of us concerned about who might be involved, but it sells news! Rest assured we deal in fact and that takes a little time to get right. We'll tell you as much as we can be sure of, as quick as we can. Keep in touch with your unit duty staff / Unit Welfare Officer and know your soldier's PMKeyS number!

North Queensland Good Ideas Expo 08

The North Queensland Good Ideas Expo 2008 (NQGI8) is to be held at the Lachlan Wilson Centre on 8th October 2008. The aim of NQGI8 is to showcase the innovative and creative ways that NQ based soldiers solve problems in operational, garrison and training environments. So if you know how to improve equipment, systems, tactics, techniques or procedures enter your idea into NQGI8. This year prizes (including a $1000 top prize) are being generously provided by Land Engineering Agency and the Centre for Army Lessons. Click this NQGI8 link for further information.
