Working/protective dress is to be worn where injury may be sustained by personnel or when
engaged in activities which may cause damage to other forms of dress. This dress is not worn in public.

Working/protective dress is worn by Other Ranks but may be worn by Officers when
ordered/required.

The table below indicates in general terms the basic items which are to be worn. Safety
equipment such as safety footwear, goggles, gloves, etc which are required for particular tasks are
specified in safety regulations or unit standing orders and the scale of issue is indicated in the relevant
block scales.

Notes
(a) Protective headdress is to be worn by plant operators when ordered.
(b) Khaki drill garments are specified but other colours, khaki through green, may be worn if supplied/issued.
Style and colour of all such garments within a unit is to be uniform. Garments for ‘specified safety
requirements’ appropriate colours are to be worn.
(c) A jacket khaki drill is specified but a ‘bomber style’ jacket may be worn. The jacket may be worn over a
shirt and/or sweater in appropriate weather conditions.
(d) Items supplied under unit Direct Unit Funding (DUF) arrangements.
(e) When boots combat are worn, trousers are to be bloused in accordance with current instructions.
(f) DPCU name tags made from a backing of the appropriate colour are to be attached.
(g) Socks are to be rolled down over the tops of boots when shorts are worn.
