2008/09 Summary for 2009 AGM

Treasurer's Summary at the 2009 AGM
The current balance is $28,204.36 but this does not include sponsorship funds from BAE Systems, Thales or Toll Group as they have not been deposited or have not been received by me at this stage. If these sponsorship funds arrive the balance will increase by $15,000 to $43,204.36

The net position for the FY 2008/09 is a loss of $15,906.52

In addition to the usual reports I have also provided a breakdown by major activity for the FY to show what each major activity costs to run with those costs being as follows:

  • National Carnival (Melb) - $38,741.34
  • Mens All Stars (Adel) - $18,808.58
  • Womens All Stars (Melb) - $14,051.59
  • Committee Meetings - $1,918.28

Revenue from Grants and Sponsorship funds less the costs of the audit was $56,793.00

Placing some of the ASAFA funds into interest bearing accounts resulted in a net fund increase of $820.27 (interest less bank charges as ASAFA is not a registered business with ATO for Tax and GST concerns).

Bear in mind that ASAFA commenced the FY with $44,110.88 in funds and if the outstanding sponsorship funds arrive shortly will commence the 2010 carnival season with nearly the same amount ($43,204.36). In essence ASAFA will have been delta neutral for FY 2008/09.

Consolidated Annual Returns

The CAR
It is a requirement that each ADF sporting association sends an annual return for each financial year to the ADF Sports Council. This consolidated annual return is known as the CAR. The CAR is usually sent in the August/September period. The Books of Account need to have been audited as the Audit Report forms an Annex. The Sports Safety Management Plan is another annex.
