ADFA Represented Well at City to Surf

19 August 2008

What began as a slightly overcast Sunday morning on the 10th of August turned into a beautiful Sydney day for the 38th Sun-Herald City2Surf.

Almost 40 ADFA Midshipmen, Officer Cadets and staff joined a record 70,000 people on the annual 14km run from Hyde Park, in the Sydney CBD, to Bondi Beach.

With runners in every starting group, including many competing for their first time, ADFA was well represented in the race. The ADFA team recorded a number of personal bests in 2008, including outstanding performances from OFFCDT Rowan Beggs-French and OCDT Luke Seymour. Both cadets broke the hour mark in their second attempt, with 58:24 in 914th and 59:06 in 1049th place respectively.

The first ADFA representative over the line was MIDN Scott Baxter in 51:14 in 178th place.

MIDN Baxter, President of the ADFA Falcons Triathlon Club said, “A great day was had by all. The team particularly enjoyed the sun at the beach prior to boarding the bus back to Canberra where it had been snowing that day”.

ADFA encourages cadets to partake in activities which provide a challenge for the participants, while at the same time develop teamwork and fitness.
