Enjoy the Show! ADFA Presents 'Anything Goes'

Positive Blue! First Year Officer Cadet Aleisha Dare shone to fame as she led the cast and crew of the ADFA Performing Arts Company musical production ‘Anything Goes’ to roaring applause on opening night, Thursday 14 August 2008.
Over 50 Navy Midshipmen and Army and Air Force Officer Cadets including cast, backstage, technical crew and band members joined together to show the Canberra community the diverse array of talent at ADFA.
Producer Elle Aurisch is proud of the fantastic production team that helped her bring the show to life. “Anything Goes is a production which has been very close to my heart for many years and I am delighted to present what I believe is the best ADFA show in decades”.
‘Anything Goes’ is a 1930’s comedic musical that follows the story of Wall Street Broker Billy Crocker, who stows away on the ship to win the heart of debutante Hope Harcourt. Just to complicate things, also on board are Hope’s fiancé Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, her fussy mother Mrs Harcourt, Crocker’s friend and nightclub singer Reno Sweeney, his boss Elisha Whitney, two second-rate gangsters, a minister, and a ship-load of sailors and passengers. There are love triangles, disguises and confusion galore, but Cole Porter’s great music and humour make it an enjoyable ride.
“It’s a show about life and love, and the message that love might not come from the most conventional place, and it might defy class structure; but if it’s true, then breaking convention is your only option” said Director Jackie Killian, who is also taking to the stage in her third ADFA Production.
“The cast and crew have made every minute of this so enjoyable for me. The rather daunting task of directing the ADFA Production in my third year has been made so easy due to their amazing abilities and passion”.
